One of the biggest things that can build our faith is answered prayers. Mother Teresa, now St. Teresa of Calcutta, showed us this over and over as she prayed for provisions for the poor and received them.

In your life, what’s something you need but aren’t sure how it will happen? Your child’s conversion back to Christianity? The salvation of another soul? Peace in your family? An end to abortion? A cure for cancer?

These are far fetched dreams if we rely on the strength of humans. However, when we employ the power of Jesus through prayer, anything is possible.

“…For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Mathew 17:20)

I invite you to choose something you desire in the depth of your soul that seems impossible and pray for it.

Why Won't God Talk to Me?

It’s up to you what this prayer looks like. Perhaps every time this topic comes to mind you offer up a small prayer. Maybe you have a set routine where you pray for it every day or every week. Or maybe you take a more intense approach and pray several prayers every day.

Do what you can. What you feel led to do. I’ve seen Jesus answer all these types of prayers in my own life or others.

As you wait for answered prayers, remember this one important thing

It’s fun to tap into the power of prayer, and even more fun to see your prayers answered. A yes to prayer can feel like a direct message from God, “I love you.”

But sometimes, when we get a “no” to our prayers over and over, it can start to feel like “I don’t love you.”

When that happens, remember God’s timing is better than yours. Not only that, but God knows more than you do about the situation. Maybe, even though it’s imperceivable to us, a no to our prayer could actually be what’s best.

Try to include “God’s will be done” in your prayer to help you remember to be open to whatever God’s answer to your prayer might be. (Here’s some help with that.)

And when you feel like giving up, here’s some encouragement to help you keep going.

Prayer is a powerful gift God has given us. Make sure you don’t forget to enjoy it.
